About

The Beginning...

When the Foreman family moved into Tickton Hall in 1997 the site was basic with stabling for only two ponies, the rest of the site being mainly grassland. The family began their equestrian interests with hunting, then in the year 2000, Mr Foreman was introduced to polo by a friend, John Nash. He was instantly hooked on the game and from that point there was no looking back!!

In 2001, the first ponies were purchased including four for Mr Foreman and two for his wife. The following year came more ponies, including some for his children (who at this point were also hooked!) and also his professional Argentinan polo player Sebastian Funes. By 2002 Mr Foreman had developed two polo pitches and erected a huge 50,000 square foot building including stabling and full sized indoor polo arena!

Opening the doors to the public...

With having such an amazing facility it seemed a shame not to share it, and so the establishment opened its doors to the public in 2002 and officially became the Beverley Polo Club.
Over the years the club has done a wonderful job of achieving its mission of promoting polo in Yorkshire and has grown from strength to strength with over 40 members attending on a regular basis. This year will see the polo club having more members than ever before from amateur through to professional level who will enjoy partaking in various tournaments throughout the season.

Polo across the UK, Europe and the World...

Andrew enjoys nothing more than playing polo with his family of which he partakes in tournaments with almost every weekend throughout the summer. These tournaments see the family and their much loved horses travel across the country as far north as Perth to all the way down south in Cirencester. The family also play every year in Soto Grande, Southern Spain where Andrew owns a property. They often make trips to other destinations in Europe such as Russia, Italy, France, Zurich and Genève.

Family Instructors...

The family genuinely strives on teaching anyone wanting to learn the game and helping others to improve their game. With Andrew being a fully qualified Hurlingham Polo Association Instructor and his son Ben an assistant instructor, make all efforts to provide the best of tuition, adding their own personal touch!

Our Members...

The club is lucky to have a fantastic group of friendly, enthusiastic members of all ages. The members enjoy participating in various tournaments throughout the season of which this year we will have more than ever with 10 in total. On any weekend that a tournament is not held, members enjoy travelling to other clubs around the country on a mission of bringing home some tropheys!! The club also hosts many parties throughout the season of which are often carrying a theme. Last year a pirate’s party was held of which the members had a great time dancing, drinking, eating in the club house and later in the evening unwinding in the swimming pool.
