Tribfest Press Release

TRIBUTE FESTIVAL - A RESOUNDING SUCCESS AT NEW

VENUE

The crew are gradually recovering from their exhausting weekend hosting one of the biggest tribute festivals in the UK. ‘Tribfest’ came to the Beverley Polo Club for the first time this year and the event has been a resounding success.

From the time when the gates opened to the public on Friday morning until the last person leaving on Monday, the show ran smoothly with very few problems encountered along the way.

Glenn Ramsden the Tribfest Safety Manager said; “We have encountered a number of challenges throughout the planning process and we feel what we said was going to happen, happened. We worked closely throughout the event with the local council who assured us that the licensing conditions had not been breached and the event was run in a responsible and professional manner.”

Tribfest attracted around 3,000 people over the weekend, many of them local to the venue and the majority stayed at the site, camping for the full show.

This was the first time at the Beverley Polo Club, whose management team welcomed the event with open arms and provided an extremely robust support infrastructure based on their extensive experience of events.

Andrew Foreman and Britt O’Sullivan the owners of the Beverley Polo Club said; "We have followed Tribfest with interest from the start and we see the event as a very strong brand that will develop in future years. The Polo Club has the infrastructure and expertise to provide the event with the support necessary to ensure that this journey is a success.

The fact that we were prepared to have Tribfest at our Polo Club is testimony to the confidence we have in the organisations involved. The partnership working between Beverley Polo Club, the Tribfest team and local authorities, I feel was second to none."

Throughout the planning process the Tribfest management team have been fully aware of some the alleged  ‘fears’ of some of the residents living in the locality and in an attempt to help with this they addressed a meeting of the Tickton Parish Council.  The idea was not to try to change people’s minds but to give them a clear understanding of the planning method so that they could make an informed judgement for themselves.

Ed Faulkner the Event Director explains; “We did not want to upset residents in the locality so it was essential that we provided as much information as possible for them. A significant number of locals came to Tribfest to enjoy the weekend and they have already expressed their support for the event in future years. We will do our best to ensure we deliver in the safest way possible.

I would like to thank those that supported us and hope we see them again in future years.”

Over 60 bands appeared over the weekend in the three music facilities at the venue and most where enjoyed by all. Not surprisingly the most popular for the general audience were the Abba tribute band.

Mrs Christine Anderson, a local resident living close to the venue told us; “I rang Tribfest Event Control over a matter relating to the show.  The team not only explained to me how they were managing it, they also took me across to the venue to show me how it all worked.  I was stunned at just how professional the organisation appeared and also by how many families were enjoying the show.”

I feel that the whole event was very well managed and the Tribfest managers, working alongside the council did a fantastic job of making sure the residents did not suffer any inconvenience.”

The team will hold a formal debrief in the next few weeks which will be attended by all of the relevant parties before moving into the planning stage for the 2010 event.

Mr Faulkner goes on to say;” There are areas where we can improve, these have been identified and an action plan has been put together to implement this for the next event.

We are indebted to those who provided support for Tribfest this year and these include the Beverley Polo Club, East Riding Yorkshire Council and Humberside Police without whom this event would not have happened.”

Half price tickets for the 2010 event have been on sale over this week and the response has been astounding.  Hopefully Tribfest will be blessed with the same support and weather next year.
